Drives: volvo 460



there is a really odd knocking sound coming from the engine and it seems to be on the drives side. this sound only occurs when not brealing or puting any power on (free wheeling on teh clutch) does any one no what it is andhow to get rid of it

Do you think it's the engine? Ensure that there is enough oil in the engine.
Could it be something in the left front suspension, brakes, etc? Does it happen only when moving? How about at a fast idle?

I'll put my money on bushes or top mounts, especialy if it's more pronounced when freewheeling.
It'll go away when you brake / accelerate (might clunk "once" as you pull off or when shifting gear under hard acceleration) 'cause you're putting pressure on the suspension and taking up the slack.
