Hi,

I have a 1994 Volvo 940 Turbo wagon, and it has a problem where the shift lock won't release when the break is pressed - I have to use the little manual release button at the base of the shifter. I checked the break lights and all fuses, and they are fine. So the problem seems to be either the solenoid or the microswitch (I found a little about this on the net).

I'd like to try and diagnose the problem further, and to do this, I think I need to get the center console out so that I can get access to the 4 bolts that are on the shifter.

Can anyone help me with this?

IPD (www.ipdusa.com) sells a "reverse lock-out repair kit" for $24. I recall seeing a write-up in their catalogue. It probably comes with instructions.
