Hi everyone , I have 2 volvo's 440TD and a 940 Wentworth estate . I am having problems with my 440 . On acceleration it loses power but does not cut out ! when stopped and I rev the car it will only rev to 3000 any ideas , thanks . J

If the air filter is clean & properly installed & there are no warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel, then suspect a vacuum leak or a fault with the turbo.

Worth checking for a leak in the air inlet & turbo ducting - obvious place to start is at joints.

My 850 had a similar problem -- turned out that the turbo gate was sticking. You can check it my trying to move the gate valve by hand. If you can you might be able to put some graphic lubricant on it.

Hi , thanks for your reply . I have checked for leaks etc seem ok . Will now try turbo gate valve but unsure what I am looking for ( DONT HAVE MANUAL ) will let you know how I get on or if you have any ideas , please let me know , thanks again . J

thanks for your replies . Handed it into a garage and they found the turbo dump valve had stuck , this only helped a wee bit so they took off the fuel pump ( volvo want £1000 for a replacement ) got it reconditioned for £100 !! just getting it put back on , will let you know how it runs after that ( prob Thursday ) , thanks again . J
