I am looking to buy a 1999 C70 convertible.

The car I am currently looking at has a rather worn out steering wheel. The leather has com off so it seems, and what is left behind is a spongy material probable also part of the leather.

Is this something that can be repaired (for a reasonable price), or is replacement the way to go? Any good addresses (web)?

Thanks.

I have no idea what the cost would be, but there might be some companies in "links to sites" on the general forum.

It's normally "rebuild-able"...

The workshop could send it for a re-stitching or re-leathering of the steering wheel... Just be careful when you remove the steering. You don't want the ABS to pop out, it'll be $$$ pricey to re-install a new one in. If in doubt, get your mechanic to detach it for you, and install in a temporary cheap steering (with no airbags, i think they come standard... Hehehhe...)

:)
