On the window sills of all 4 doors of my S90 the leather is wrinkled on on the front and rear of the sill.

Is this a design flaw or was the previous owner messing around?

Either way, can it be fixed fairly easily by taking the panel apart?

If anyone can help, thanks.

I am assuming you are talking about on the door panels.Volvo was replacing door panels under warranty for that problem.Im not sure if you can repair them you will have to try it and see if it works.

Yeah, I was talking about the door panels, Thanks.

I'll try calling a local volvo dealership and see if I can still get it fixed under warrenty.

If they won't fix it for me I'll just try to do it myself.

This is a common thing with most all 960 - s90's. Design flaw? I don't think so, since not all do this. Trying to cut the maximum number of covers from there material and cutting it to close, probably.
The sun heats the leather causing it to stretch, then when it cools it pulls loose from under the trim.
I have had many repaired, some stay and some don't.

Look up Ford Recalls {Volvo},I found door panels listed just today.I had mine replaced earlier last year,I paid about half the charge.It was a known problem to Volvo, Good Luck.

Hi take door trim off, you will find leather door trim held in place by two thin metal strips, iron out trim and replace the two metal trims with one full piece.

Had same problem with my 960. This is NOT leather but vinyl. Had an auto trimmer make some cards the same shape as door tops, a thin sheet of foam and wrapped in grey vinyl and it looks factory done, cost £40-$60

The issue with the door trim was caused by using a substandard adhesive.

I have repaired my own using Permatex Adhesive and Filler. It will set up overnight and will resist the heat, contraction, and wear.

I took the extra "skin" and slit it with a scrafitto knife so it would lay down flat.
I cut the excess from the middle of the flap to accomplish this.

I would not suggest trying to glue Under the metal edge, but butt it up to the metal edge. The rubber window trim will cover any edges.

ps. I do have an extra dark grey RH side passenger door panel in perfect condition that I will sell at a reasonable cost.

Hi- Just to confirm, you removed the entire panel and used a clothing iron to smooth out the wrinkles? How hot did you have the iron? did you cover the "leather/vinyl" with anything before ironing?
