I am considering buying a 2006 XC 70. I know Volvo recommends premium unleded gas, but can anyone tell me if they have an XC 70 that they run on regular unleaded, and how well it runs? Volvo recommends premium unleaded for the 1999 V70 I'm driving now, but it runs just fine with regular unleaded.

Thank you.

Not sure about the 06 but our 02 V70 2.4T AWD runs just fine on regular unleaded which is typically 87 octane around here. Have noticed a slight drop in performance but nothing major, the computer seems to have adjusted as well as no hint of a knock at any time.

It can run all day and night on reg gas, but for some reason l use the minimum of 91 octane.

The computer can adjust to 87 octane without skipping a beat.

Alan

Keep in mind that in 2007 the new V70 rolls out and your 06 will depreciate like a rock.

Do you know what will be different about the 07 model?
