The driver's side power seat has quit working on my 2001 S40. Fuse under hood checks good. All functions have stopped (fore and aft, up and down, seat back tilt). Is there another fuse for the seat adjustment system? Any other ideas?

Thanks to all with any info.

29 viewers and no replies? Have I stumped the forum? Is this a record?

It seems like this should be something simple as all directions have ceased function. It is set perfect for me but the wife likes to drive it ocassionaly and she can't reach the pedals. Maybe I should leave it that way??

Thanks again,

Saliut,

There must be another fuse box inside the drivers panel, where is front hood opening stick. There is 2 bulbs which you must to unscrew. Unscrew them and i think you will find them here( but i havent tryed to look for them here). Why i am telling this to you, i saw it in the Owner's Manual. If you want i can send you it by e-mail.
If those fuses will be good, then i think you must only check the seats electric conection, maybe there is a problem!
There is only this electrical problem in your s40 or there are more?

Thanks for the reply. I will check that area. My owner's manual was downloaded vs. new but I did not see it there. I will check this week-end. I appreciate if you can send by e-mail. gknott@charter.net.

I have looked at seat electrical connections but have not found a problem. It is sort of tight to get a good look as the seat is all the way down. This is my only electrical problem other than the left rear taillight needs an ocassional bump for a bad connection that I have not found yet.

Thanks again and happy driving!!!

Hi,

Here is a link that might give you a hint about the location of the fuse box:
http://apps.volvocars.us/ownersdocs/2001/2.../01sv40_02a.htm
Search it well. Is a small box that at the first look it can be taken as an alarm box.

At the link
http://apps.volvocars.us/ownersdocs/2001/2...40_06b.htm#pg93
looks like the driver's powe sear fuse is located in the engine compartment ( fuse 6 ).

I hope this helps.

Yes, I am aware of both of these fuse boxes. I have checked and cannot find a blown fuse. I have even replaced the fuse for the power driver's seat to no avail. I was hoping to learn of an overload, an in-line fuse, or something else that could shut down power to all seat functions. I do not believe it is a bad motor because I think it would have separate motors for each seat function. (Fore and aft, up and down, seat tilt)

Thanks and I will keep looking for the problem. It must be a unique one! Hope all of you have a great weekend!!
