have you tried the "cassette " adapter? if you turn the volume midway on the i-pod you should get ok sound quality those fm things really suck!!!

of course it wont control the ipod thru the head unit but there you go volvo's are not friendly to "aux" inputs!!!! the only thing i have seen is the blitzsafe jobby but it is too expensive to ship for me to bother with for my pc as yet!

good luck

happy new year guys!! better late then never eh? ;-) ...

i made a post about this a couple months back here : http://www.volvo-forums.com/index.php?showtopic=4748&hl=

I have just recently bought an ipod and im going to have it installed in my c70 very soon, I will post up the results i would not recommend the cassette adapter the sound quality does not do the volvo stereo justice. As described in my other post what i am doing is getting the ipod connected into the antenna in of the stereo, its a direct cable connection, i do not lose my radio stations and the sound quality is supposed to be as good as the cd changer connection, if not the company has agreed to remove the install and no charge to me.

Im overseas atm but hopefully will get this done within the month, I will post up as soon as its complete with a review!

Hi try using the unit from www.wire-tunes.com
it is a nice unit. The only draw back is you loose function of your ipod and have to control the ipod from your stereo buttons. It chargers your ipod and has great sound. The antenna connection in the previous posting is not very good. It is basically a direct FM tuner modulator that hooks directly to the antenna. Not really a direct line in. If you want to experiment further www.volvospeed.com has the circuit diagram so that you can make your own Aux plug that plugs where the CD changer would normall plug into.
HOpe this helps :)

G'day ppl.... I know this post is quite old however I did say I would write up on my ipod to car connection.

I got the connection which hijacks your antenna in on the headunit, and I must say it does sound very good, I was suitably impressed with the sound quality, however after using it for some time I can clearly point out the bad.

Choose the frequency it comes in on carefully, I live in Sydney and there isnt a lot of room on the spectrum, its not bad on FM 88.8 however when I am in the city CBD it cant be used, there is far too much interference, other things that are annoying, when you return to your car, and start it up without the ipod and your stereo happens to be on from ur last use with the ipod, the stereo will greet you with LOUD static.

For 80% of my driving its fantastic, I would recommend it so long as the majority of your driving is in an area where you wont get much interference, it would be great if there was a way to keep the antenna down as this of course would reduce external signals getting in the way.

Here's what it looks like - http://www.volvodriver.com.au/projects/c70.html
