I need to replace the turn indicator/hazard relay. Where is it located and how do I get to it?

I too would like to know where it is.

However, after reading about the bulb filaments (or whatever) "melting" together, I'm going to look into changing the bulbs out first.

I'll update with the results.

Thx,

Rick

Update: I tried replacing my front bulbs last night. No help. Turn Signals and Hazard
Flasher still not working.

I tried to replace the rear turn signal bulbs but the replacement bulbs that were called
out for (at Auto Zone of all places) did not fit. Auto Zone calls out for the 1156 bulbs but they do not fit (the "J" lugs on the bulb are located differently radially). But, both bulbs light up and do not appear to be damaged in any way so I do not think they are
the problem either.

My next step was to change the Flasher Relay. My Owner's manual shows the relays
to be near the driver side front fender. I found that with no problem but did NOT find
the Flasher Relay. There were other relays in the box (headlights, other) but no
Flasher Relay.

So I looked at the fuse box on the driver side of the dashboard. No luck. It wasn't
there either.

I'm at a loss as to where the Flasher Relay is. :puzzled:

Can anyone point me to it, please?

Much obliged,

Rick

Found it. The relay actually is a combination switch (turn and hazard relay and hazard switch) and is located in the dash hazard clicker itself. The unit pops out with a small screwdriver. The Volvo part is pricy, $65. I had to take it to my garage to resolve this problem.

Thanks to all.

Great news, jhyman! I'll check it out.

Would you happen to have a part number? Maybe we can find 'em cheaper at a salvage yard.

Thanks

I used this site and JustAnswer to investigate my similar problem.
You may only need to remove and re-insert the hazard relay-switch.
Here's a recap you may find helpful:

Here's the question I submitted to JustAnswer:
My V90 turn indicators are not flashing, although they all illuminate properly. I tried the hazard indicator, and it illuminated once, then shut down completely. Subsequent tries had no response. The turn indicators still illuminate but, as before, they do not flash. I have checked both fuses at the dashboard-side fuse box that are indicated as "turn indicator," and they are both fine; there is no sign of any other fuse damage. Further, I have checked both rear turn indicator bulbs and they look fine; I did not do this for the front indicators yet, because I haven't discovered how to access them.

The JustAnswer Volvo expert said I had a faulty hazard relay, which was incorporated into the hazard relay switch on the dashboard.

Further searching through the Volvo-forums indicated that I could remove the relay-switch with a small screw driver. Because no screws were evident, I presumed this meant to use the screwdriver to prise out the switch, and I detected a small detent on the underside of the switch, so I used that to gain purchase.
I also determined from Volvo-forums that there are no used, replacement hazard relay-switches available for sale, so I was resigned to buy the part from my dealer. But I would attempt the repair myself.

Here follows my report to the JustAnswer Volvo expert, describing the denoument:
This was the problem, though you might have said more, about removing, acquiring, and replacing. I did my own Internet research on this, but it was only moderately helpful. Based upon what I found, I tried to remove the relay-switch by prising it out with a small screw driver. This wasn't easy at all and at one point, I thought I'd broken it. Of course, it was defective anyway, so I wasn't too disturbed. For some reason, I tried to re-insert the possibly broken relay-switch and guess what, it started working! So another lesson learned is that sometimes the relay is merely lacking good contact and should be removed (perhaps only partially) and re-inserted.
