1998 s40 2.0CD was locked on the remote keyfob this morning. This afternoon the car failed to respond to keyfob and wouldn't unlock. Spare keyfob used but no joy with that one either. Car will unlock normally with key but as soon as door is opened alarm goes off! You can start the car but alarm continues to sound as you are driving! Anyone any ideas at all? Not a problem using key to lock/unlock but can't drive round with hazards and alarm on.
Any help appreciated.

Hi Jimbo14.

I hate to say this, but if the alarm doesn't reset after the car is started then I think you'll need to get it (and both sets of keys) to a dealer.

Worth calling a couple of independent Volvo specialists for advice/estimates first, might save tou a few bob. Not sure where you are in the UK, but you might try:
