| Volvo 440 Se Starting Problem |

I got a M reg volvo and when i try to start it just clicks do you think the starter motor is gone, the electrics come on but keeps on clickin.

Sounds like a faulty starter motor.....i know this is a stupid question but there is fuel in the tank right?
Does the starter motor turn? Does the starter motor turn the engine? Is the battery full? |

There is half a tank of fuel in the car i charged battery with the home car battery charger u get and and i also used jump leads to jump, it mite still be battery, problem is i dont know where the start motor is, some 1 told me to check if the earth wire aint come out and if it hasnt bang then the start motor with somethink to see if that works.
Another thing was it use to start every time until i left the inside reading light on over night and it started to do that. |

I think its the cold weather.
Today for the first time it took about 1/2 hour to start... Once i started it, it was fine ever since.. These cars are terrible in the cold!!!!!!!! |

Hi THEUKRULER.
Suggest you have someone try to start the car while you listen under the bonnet (avoiding moving parts!). See whether the clicking noise is loud & from underneath the gearbox/engine area, or whether it is fairly quiet & coming from the black plastic triangular box at the top of the engine bay, near one of the front suspension turrets, then post a reply describing what you hear/where from. I have sorted the problem out and it was the postive cable that was loose and the battery was faulty the car is working fine now thanks for your help.
