Just spent $600+ to have dealer install the snazzy new bluetooth upgrade to my 2004 Volvo S80 T6 Executive. Bought the new Sprint Samsung SPH-A940 bluetooth phone specifically to use with it.

It pairs *exactly* as it says it will in the manual. Volvo system recognizes my voice precisely. But when we get as far as "dialing," it simply won't. Volvo system thinks it's dialing, it continues to mute the audio on the radio and GPS, but nothing is happening on the phone, so the system is useless. I'm out $1,000 for the system and the phone, the dealer won't return my calls, give me a help line to call; or provide any help so I'm turning to you guys.

Assuming you've read, fully understood and have become very familiar with the manual, and still find the problem there:-

I bring the car and get THEM to show you how it is supposed to work. It may be a faulty unit or so, and in which case, you should be entitled to a replacement.

In any case, not doing anything about it, would be the worst for you to do at this point.

Good luck.

The Volvo bluetooth kits wont work with the S80 executive, elite, or premier models. I have no clue why, other than assuming the wire harness behind the radio is slightly different in your trim S80. I'm pretty sure it's mentioned on the front page of the installation instructions.

I installed the Volvo kit in my 04 S80 2.5t and it works perfect.

That dealer installed a non-compatible accessory in your car. Get your money back man!

Did you do it yourself in your XC90? Were any special service tools required (e.g., to re-configure the audio system to recognize the new bluetooth input)?

I'm considering putting the Volvo bluetooth kit in my wife's 2005 V50, and I would prefer to do it myself as my local dealer's service record is pretty bad.

Thanks!

Yes. I installed it myself. Took about an hour and a half. Very simple. The V50 will take a bit longer because you have to run wires to the rear. No cutting wires or software updates needed.

Good luck,
