Hi,

I have just fitted a new radiator to my 1996 850 Estate. Running fine but after a while the expansion tank sensor light will come on. From what I can see, the coolant is being forced out under pressure from the expansion tank cap. I fitted a new cap - same result. The engine is not overheating at all and after a while the sensor will go off until town running brings it on again. The top hose feels solid is if there is air in it. I would be grateful for any suggestions.

Cheers
Charlie

The expansion tank cap gives way after the pressure escalates to a certain level, I do not remember the level though.

But please check if your fan / thermostat is working properly.

Yes make sure you have a good flow through all the hoses. And that the fan is working properly.
