Could anyone in the forum advise me if they have heard anything about volvo upgrading the d5 engine? I have ordered one but the dealer suggests that it will be anextra 6 weeks to deliver, because of the up grade.

Hi, there are lots of rumours. Initially they seem to relate to upping the horsepower to about 200 bhp using basic ecu remap. There is some suggestion of the addition of a D6 using a six cylinder engine to bring it more in line with the BMW 3.0 engine.

An engine upgrade would be most welcome. My D5 tops out at 135 MPH although book states 130 max (I live in Germany so no problems with speeding fines :D ). Compared with the Audi A6 or BMW 320D it is a snail!! A V6 upgrade to 230 BHP, 0-60 in 9 seconds and a top spedd of 140 MPH would really make it better although 4 years into the 7 year model life rules this out.
