Hi All

Had an unusual thing happen yesterday. I was puttering through traffic in 3rd gear doing about 40-50km/h and when I put my foot down 3/4 on the throttle, the car seemed to splutter and then surge. I managed to make the car do it a few times. It concerned me so I pulled over and lifted the hood to see if anything was amiss.

All the hoses seemed to be connected and nothing to suggest anything was wrong. I turned the car off and waited for a bit whilst I was looking under the hood.

When I started the car and took off again it was fine and hasn't missed a beat since. I pulled it hard off the line and there appeared to be smoke from the zorst but that seemed normal for a turbo car going hard.

Not sure if it could be a fuel thing.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Henri

 i had a similar problem with my turbo 440 before the turbo packed in. it may be fuel, but only if you ran the tank dry too often. correct me if i'm wrong guys but i think it may be fuel pump going. it gives fuel for normal running but can't keep up with acceleration. check your fuel system for damage and speak to a specialist.

Thanks mong man... hey i noticed our cars look very similar (same vintage) similar wheels ... the main difference veing the colour.

I suspect it could be a faulty fuel pump too. I'm putting the car on a dyno today to check for boost and air fuels... Will see what's wrong. So far the car is running well. Might have been a sligth computer glitch.

Thanks for your help...

Hi Mong man

Love your mesh grille... I had eyelids made up and I'm considering doing the grille. I had my car dynoed today. The surging is not fuel related but possibly related to my atmospheric dump valve or the drive by wire sensor. Not sure what the problem is yet but its not bad at the moment.

The dyno read out showed 188 hp at the front wheels and 168 kw (about 227 bhp if my conversion is correct)at the flywheel. I'm quite surprised because the manufacturer quotes 147 kw (199bhp) at the flywheel. I can assure you that my car is quite stock apart from the dump valve.

The springs are Australian made named Pedders. they seem to ride nicely and it certainly makes the car look a lot more fierce.
