Newbie Group: Members Posts: 8 Joined: 5-June 05 Member No.: 5,289 Status: Location: UK Drives: Volvo 440	I just bought this 1994 automatic Volvo 440. It was working fine yesterday, when I move it around the carpark to remove my other old volvo. Today, when I try to start it, it makes a dying trying to start engine noise. The only thing I have not fix it is the temperature gauge which is always at zero. Is it because of the cold weather? Any advice?????

Veteran Group: Members Posts: 1,348 Joined: 7-August 05 Member No.: 6,813 Status: Location: North Kent, England Drives: 2002 Volvo V40 T4 2.0 Sport Lux	If you just bought it then the car may have stood for a while, which would have run the battery down, especially in the cold spell we've had for the past couple of weeks. Your 90 mile round trip should have helped, but if you had the radio, fan, heated rear screen, lights etc. on, then battery may not have got much of a charge. Do yourself a favour and get a free alternator check carried out as well. If the alternator is faulty then the new battery may go flat soon too. BB :57:

I think the person who sold the car to me changed the battery to an old one. I have to say I don't really like this car as it seem to consume so much more petrol than my previous manuel one. £20 for 170miles. Grrr...
