I just bought the car with 90K miles. The engine temp is fine, but when I stop, it smells like something is burning. Its not a brake smell. Any ideas?

I have a 2002 S80 T6 w/ 50,000 miles. I'm having the same experience. Did you ever find out what, if anything is happening?

Sometimes the upper engine mount falls apart and the small peices of rubber will fall out and land on the exhaust.

OK, that would make sense. Should there be any sign of this that can easily be seen?

Sometimes there is and other times not. Look and see if you see black marks on the exhaust. From where it might have been burning. Also inspect the upper torque mount.

Wow Tech, I think you may be right. I've been smelling burning rubber on my 2000 S80 for weeks. It could be standing still or even heading down the highway. I'd always wonderd what was causing it, and realize now it was always after the car was warmed up.

Today the dealer found the a bad upper engine mount ($290 if I didn't have a service contract). I'm keep my nose out and report if it comes back.
