I have a 1999 S40 T4 that lacks power.
Does anybody know how to adjust the dumpvalve for better performance?

How would this affect my fuel consumption?

Hi Charlie

As far as I know I don't think adjusting the dump valve (blow off valve) would increase performance.

I assume you are talking about an aftermarket dump valve... If it is an atmospheric valve, then if its not tightened it might leak boost in which case you would lose power. The easiest way to remedy that is to tighten it up or have it replaced.

Some people say that the installation of such valves increases throttle response but thats about it.

Hope that helps.

t4orce is right. Blow-off valves basically prevent back pressure or surge from the turbo, for example when shifting. If u ever heard a modified turbo car at full throttle hiss when shifting, thats the blow-off valve. It supposed to keep the turbo spooled up better, for better response. But adjusting it wont give u more power, per se. U might notice better turbo response when shifting

My problem is that my S40 T4 perfroms about the same as my standard 200 GSI Nissan Sentra did.
I can't even feel that the car pulls me into the seat if i really push it. seems lazy!!

If you are looking to get rid of the lazy feeling, it all depends how much u want to spend

Not really sure about it, but as far as i know T4 is the bigger one, sure as **** pay more for it.
As far as money and lazy go, i just want it to have the performance it is suppose to have. Some friends said it might be my plugs, bought a new set now, will let you know what happens.

Hi Charlie

It seems surprising that yout t4 lacks pull. I have to say its not the quickest car in the world and certainly in stock form slower than my previous rides but it should still give a bit of a push enough to fry first and second from about 3000 rpm till a nasty death at 5500 rpm when you grab the next cog.

Perhaps you might want to check for boost leaks and have the turbo and wastegate looked at too.

S60R: the T4 is the high pressure model (low in the modded world tho...)
