Hi,
Just joined the forum. My 940 driver's power seat moves forward only on the left side. Right side moves not at all. I need to fix this so my teenage daughter can drive the car. I thought the problem was coins that had fallen into the rail on the right side. Took the seat out, got all the coins out but still have problem. Can anyone advise me on what to do? I saw another post suggesting WD40. There seems to be a motor on each rail. Is one working and the other not. Would appreciate any advice.
Wes

The power seat pinion gears are driven by a cable to each side. Like an old speedo cable. The ends come loose and get stripped. If the seat jamed against the coins the cable was probibly damaged. Take off the cable and check.

Thanks very much for your reply. Especially thanks for the picture. This makes it a lot clearer to me what I need to deal with. Despite having the seat out, I missed most of this as I was most concerned with getting coins out of the rails. A stupid question: Is there a simple way to remove the seat cushion so I don't have to remove the seat entirely.

Wes,

Could you tell me how you removed the seat? I've got the same problem in my 98 V90. The seat will only move on the driver's left side a bit until it stops due to the right side being stuck. (The seat still moves up and down and the back does move back and forth.) I've got long legs so the seat is all the way back. I can get off the front two bolts that are holding the seat. As for the back bolts, I've been informed to use a torx bit to take off some moldings in order to get access to the bolts. However, I still can't get access to the back bolts. There is a molding on the rails/tracks that covers the two back/rear bolts. I need help in getting the molding off.

Thanking in advance, regards, Mike :liebe011:

when i did it i just took the whole rack completly off track included you just pry the one side off and unscrew the bolt, i fixed the cables by just getting some zipties and connecting the cable in the right place the woman who owned the car before me lost tons of her makeup in the tracks and stripped most of the gears off the cables so the cables would only work in certain positions after fixing that tho the power seet is good as new no problems with it sense, its bout a 2 hour job so it dont take that long, u might need an extra set of hands, i know i did cause the seat is a beast, along with every other part of the car and taking it out without damaging anything else in the car, especially the steeringwheel, which i knicked up while taking the seat out cause i thought i could "handle it" just lettin u kno

have fun, and hopefully that'll cure ur problem

With a mini Tourch heat up carefully where the plastic meets the metal and push teh plastic inside the metal a little more and move the seat and let it cool should work good as new.
