Hi All
I am new to Volvo's, purchased a V40 XS in September this year and it drives like a dream. I have quite a few new cars in the past but this is my first Volvo.
I have one problem though, hope somebody can help?
The Fan for the Heater/Demister stopped working a couple of days ago (wrong time of year for that to happen) and since then it has started and stopped randomly a couple of times?
I do not want to spend a fortune for a dealer to correct this if is only a loose wire?
if anyone can help I would be gratefull

Your post will probably get moved to the S40 forum as this bit is for introductions, but here goes...

Sounds like a loose connection, poor earth or poor connection at the fuse. Could even be a problem with the switch

Since the switch is easiest to get to, try wiggling it to see whether fan comes on/stops. If not, then fuse is next easiest thing to get to - probably fuse no. 1 in the interior fusebox. Check it carefully to ensure it isn't broken causing intermittent contact in the thin element part, clean up the 2 metal prongs & the contacts they go into. If problem persists then you will need to get access to the wiring to the fan & switch - check for a loose connection, poor earth, presence of a current with ignition on etc. If there is current then the fan motor is probably shot & you'll need to source one - a breaker's yard or eBay might be cheapest option.

good luck.
