I recently purchased a 2005 XC70 and have 1500 miles on it.
The manual recommends oil change every 7500 miles, but I have always had the first oil change with the new cars I have driven at 1000-1500 miles.
Is Volvo different from other cars?
I am curious to know what is really good for a brand new Volvo.
Thanks for your help.

Where I work at a indy shop we reccomend the first at about 1,500 to 2,000. Then since your car is turbo I would reccomend evry 3000 from there to help save the life of the turbo.

On the Non-turbo cars we do it every 5,000 miles.

The newer cars are somewhat known to sludge up if the oil is changed every 7,500 thats why we reccomend every 3,000.

Thank you, Tech. That's exactly what I believed in for so many years.
But volvo manual recommends oil change every 7,500 miles and says nothing more. Is this a way to cut down the free maintenance cost or something?
I do not quite understand.
