Drives: 1998 V40 2.0i Cd auto
1998 V40 (auto)

I find it very difficult to read the information from the various locations on the instrument panel.(grey background with small black numbers)
I have turned the dimmer (?rheostat) fully up and whilst there is illumination it is not good.

Could it be the dimmer switch failing?
Can brighter bulbs be located behind the panel?
If so how?
