I've got a Volvo S40 (1996) and it has got a very complicated problem in its gear. In order to put the reverse gear I have to engage the first or second gear first and only then would I be able to reverse my car. My reverse gear doesn't work until and unless I put it in first or second gear. :(

Hi Conter
It seems that your Car’s tranny needs an overhaul. The gears in it are not working properly. Most probably u will need a transmission unit swap.
