I recently had the opportunity to purchase a 2001 T6. I read all these forums and specifically this one about all the issues. It was hard a decision, but my wife and I agreed that every single car on the road has a forum designated to it where guys go and **** about their cars. I mean, come on, we are talking about a Volvo here, not a Kia for christ sake. Well, I bought it and it is great. I have no problems at all except the transmission service urgent light, emmisions service, service engine soon, and orange triangle light. Other than these minor things the car is awesome. Are you done laughing yet? I am Dangerz0ne. I will now join your misery. Thank you. By the way, we also own a Kia.

Is your transmission fine even thought it gives you "transmission service urgent" light? thanks.

Funny that Kia's reliability is questioned. One of my best friends has been in a lawsuit with Kia for about 3 years over their van that they bought. They bought it brand new, and it doesn't have 5,000 miles on it. The thing would just shut down a certain times of day and when it was a certain temperature out. That van is the biggest piece of crap ever, and the **** at Kia were less than willing dto do anything about it. They wouldn't refund their money, or replace the car. Good luck ever getting me to buy one of those cheap, red China cracker boxes!

I rented a Kia once on a job interview trip (not by choice, just because that's what they gave me). On this particular trip, I realized the morning of the interview that I forgot dress shoes. So I had to haul **** in this thing to a town 20-25 miles away, to get shoes (since my interview was in the middle of nowhere), then drive the 20-25 back to do the interview. Since I was running late, I was speeding. Doing 80 on the highway in a nearly brand new Kia Optima, with 6,000 miles, is one of the scariest experiences of my life. I had an 850 Turbo at the time, so I was used to driving fast. However, I felt like the Kia was going to fall apart right as I was driving it. There was some serious shimmy to the ride. Not to mention the terribly whiny exhaust. It was the least pleasant driving experience of my life.

I would rather have the biggest junkheap Volvo there is than just about any Kia.

HAHAAAA. That is funny. Actually, we have the Sorento and it hasn't given us a bit of trouble at all. My S80 has been fairly good to me so far. I can't really complain too much.

Just dropping in to pose another question. Do many volvo owners own a Kia as a second car? We have a Kia Carnival MPV and it has not failed us yet (except for some fuddy duddy powersteering hose that gave way), and the kids prefer it for the space ;=)

The only real problems all Volvos suffer from, is the high cost of repairing them!!!

I feel your pain, just be lucky you don't own a BMW! I had a KIA Sephia and it never gave me any trouble!

I am growing a bit concerned after reading internet postings on the Volvo and my now first hand experiences. I too recently purchased a certified 01 s80 T6 with 36,000 miles from a dealership in Westlake, CA. (Neftin). I've had the car for a week and took into dealer for a few odds and ends. ie "Bulb Failure Position Light", periodic rubbing noise from steering wheel when beginning turn from standstill, weird oscillating high pitched engine noise. They replaced a bulb and socket but message reappeared two days later. They essentially ignored the other issues saying that the vehicle is operating to Volvo standards. I have now discovered that when I refuel the tank the guage only shows half full. I am starting to miss my 97 Ford Exploer with 140,000 miles.

Regards, Bill

Yikes! I don't want to jinx myself, but I've had my S80 turbo for over 6 months and so far, so good. All I've had to do is replace two bulbs. The orange triangle is annoying until you fix whatever the problem is, (fill washer fluid ...lol) but at least you notice it! :P
