Hello All,

Getting ready to commit to an order through a dealer in Germany for an ordered V50 T5 manual (still deciding on FWD vs AWD).

We plan on getting the Comfort, Premium, Audio, and "Advance (NAV, Climae, Xenons) Packages and were debating upgrading to the dynamic stability and traction control over the standard set up.

Any thoughts? The package is not overly expensive, but would anyone say that is a must have or even something to avoid?

TIA

Jim

I think dynamic stability and traction control is one of the best advancement in car traction and stabilization. I would even say that it's better than AWD in that it's not a choice between speeds over traction power but a good balance of both.

Of course I’m not saying that it’s replacing AWD (which is a lesser 4x4 traction without its hurtle) or RWD of some sportsier car but it's the only system that provides for more traction only when needed resulting in more traction power in these situation.

AWD vs. FWD is probably more a matter of choice between sporty feel and winter traction as well as a higher price for AWD of course.

I bought a S40 T5 this past summer and I will see if I made a mistake by not getting the AWD in order to get a more responsive car. However I do not regret having dynamic traction control for a second. Go for it, it’s worth the cost…

Go with the DSTC. Its worth it.

AWD vs FWD I think really depends on where u live.

Thanks for all of the input so far! I think that I will end up going with the DTSC.

The AWD is still open for debate. We will be using this car in Germany, but in an area that does not get a lot of snow. We are bringing a Sienna over for the autobahn / long haul trips, but this will be my primary daily driver and the car that will fit into the cities over there. In the past (living in New England), we typically had one AWD vehicle and one FWD, giving a choice for the weather.

This car will most likely come back to the US with us, so the AWD may be a nice feature depending on the next assignment.

Now I just have to find a way to try to squeeze in factory delivery...... :P
