I just purchased a 1998 V70XC, and the rear passanger seat is stuck in the down position due to a faulty seatbelt. It was replaced about a year ago for the same problem according to what I can decifer from the maintanence logs. The dealership this was done at was a bit away, so I called my trusty local Volvo place only, to hear this is a reoccuring problem they've encountered before. Has anyone else had this happen? If so, is there any easy solution? I don't have buko bux (From what I can tell ~300 for replacement/repair) to get this fixed, so any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Here is why I think it happens from what I have seen. When you fold the seat down the little catch that holds the seatbelt latch isn't positioned 100% propperly. When the seat is folded down the seatbelt locks. The catch is all the way up.That is why the seatbelt is so tight. I would advise anytime you fold the seats down pull out some seatbelt and fold the seat onto it.

Ok to move on to trying to help you. See if you can get to where it bolts to the floor. If so then try to unscrew it and fold the seat up and see if it starts to work.
I would say about 95% of the time if you do that it will work normally again.
