My V40 has developed an oil drip. The owners manual states there is a PVC valve. I thought maybe this might be the culprit.

Anyone have an idea where this is located?

The oil drain plug nor the oil filter is leaking. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks in advance. :-)

If it is leaking from the back of the motor the turbo return line o-ring is leaking.

It is failry easy to replace.

I've had two of these fail on me.

In theory an easy job. The banjo bolt on top of turbo is easy enough to get on/off, it's the one half way down the back of the engine block thats a pain to get a good hold of.

Make sure you drain the oil or at least half from the engine before you take anything off. You'll get covered.

On the subject of oil and turbos, have you ever heard that you should leave the engine idling for around 20 seconds before killing it, in order to allow oil to cool the turbo. If you kill it without idling, the oil in the turbo bearings boils dry, and next time you start up you're starting with dry bearings, leading to premature failiure.

I had this with my 850 T5R. So I always idle my S40 before killing it.

Not a cheap repair.

Stu.

Yup, good advice. I've been leaving my Volvo idle for at least ten seconds even after driving only 25mph. When I make a long run at 75mph or more across Arizona I'll let it idle for a minute by the time I exit and pull in for food or gas.

Thanks for your advice,
