Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum, so if I make typo errors, please forgive me!

I purchased a new Volvo V50 T5 in September, 2004 to replace my ultra reliable 1986 240 sedan.

I have 6000 miles on it (I purchased a case of Volvo oil filters, and I replace the oil and oil filter every 500 miles using Castrol's 100% synthetic oil), and I have had no problems with it.

I do have a question. In July, 2005, I received a letter from Volvo concerning a "...Important Campaign Notice...". The letter mentioned a software upgrade "...Enhancements to your vehicle's climate control, gear shift response and radio reception.".

My question is this: How important is this "Campaign"? My V50 T5 is working perfectly, no problems.

Any replies are welcome.

Regards,

volvo_mike

:00000732:

U really dont have to change your oil that often if u use synthetic. I used 100% synthetic in my previous car also. I averaged around 5500 miles/year, changing oil at 3000 miles.

It was at the garage I always use for other service and three months/2000 miles had gone by since the last oil change. I asked for the oil change, and he wouldnt do it. He said wait for 3000 miles with synthetic, otherwise I was just wasting money. Just my experience.

Dont know about the campaign, but I have heard of updates even though nothing seems "wrong".

Welcome, Volvo_Mike,

I'd advise you to go for the 'campaign', dude.
