The other day I pressed the unlock button on the key fob of my v40 whilst my wife had already got the button pressed (thinking that it was already unlocked) Now the button is stuck in the depressed position and I can't open the boot. I'm sure I've done this before but I can't remeber how I got out of it. Can anyone help?

Are you talking about the button on the remote or the black button that opens the boot?

This same exact thing just happened to me, on a 1999 S40 2.0T.

I was pressing the boot release button on the boot itself (thinking the car was already unlocked), but at the same time, mum was pressing the car unlock button on the fob.

Now the boot release button on the car is stuck all the way in (as though someone is pressing it in), and the boot is stuck locked. The contents of the boot can be accessed through the car, but I'd obviously like to sort this out.

Any help as to how to fix would be greatly appreciated!

I have had this happen to me the same way. I got into the boot on my S40 through the seats and then undid the torque bolts holding the latch mechanism to the boot. You can then remove it and refit it back to the bootlid/tailgate and it will be fine. It takes less than 15 mins and is very easy.

Thank you so much for your help! The boot is working again now :).

In my case (if anyone ever finds this thread in the future), the latch couldn't completely come off with the boot still locked, and so the button remained around 80% depressed until I sort of jiggled the boot a bit and it popped all the way out.
I also didn't need to take out all three torx screws, only one and the button 'popped'.

Thanks again for your help! Still getting used to the S40: I've been a 244/240/740 driver for years.
