:cat: Hi there everybody. Opinions please. Boge struts: www.zf-trading.com

Has anybody got any thoughts, reviews, comments, bits, pieces etc about this particular type of suspension strut please?

I would appreciate any thoughts please. Our local agent is expecting a shipment in next week. (Arn't they always!!?)

I have reviewed a few other recommendations on this forum. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about the topic to make an informed decision about them.

Apparently, Boge struts are supplied with a life-time guarantee. If they were fitted to my Volvo to start with-I would not need to worry about the cost of them now. The local agent tells me that BMW use them and Holden in Australia is now using them also. (Holden-read General Motors)

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Cheers :trophy:

The stock ones are usually good. I would say go for it.

:cat: Hi there Tech. Thank you very much for your reply. When you say 'go for it' which one do you recommend? The difference in the price is almost negligible.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I've heard of Bilstein, plugged into an 855T5, and the response was good.

Monroe is almost non-recommended, according to a mechanic, probably due to its 'softness'.

Please tell us later how it goes.

:puzzled: :crying:  It never works on a demonstration. I went to the suspension guru this afternoon and we took the Volvo for a spin over the speed control tours and the suspension performed brilliantly. No knocks, clunks or clinks.

Me not impressed-I wasted the best part of the afternoon getting to the guru only to find nothing wrong.

I only have two problems left now-the small motor under the driver's seat does not work any more-I don't know how much those small motors cost or if they are available as an aftermarket part-does anybody know about that?

The other problem is the radiator-apparently, mine has a small hole somewhere on the radiator and I have to refill it once a fortnight or so. I was quoted NZ$950.00 plus tax and labour for a new one. Again, does anybody know about aftermarket replacement radiators which could save me a few dollars?

Would appreciate any information thank you.

Cheers :trophy:

Did they inspect the spring seats? And the sway bar links for noise?

The motor is dealer only last time I knew.

The Radiator you should be able to find Aftermarket. And yes expansive and alot of labor. It is not easy to replace.

How sure are you it's the radiator?

Maybe the hose has stiffened and letting coolant out at a very miniscule pace...
(At least hoses are cheaper...)

:)

:cat: Hi Tech. Thank you for your reply. The suspension struts are all that is left. Absolutely everything else has already been changed.

As for the radiator hoses-I never thought about the hoses Ampangbear. I will check that out. I will let you know what I discover.

Cheers and thanks for your support :trophy:

Ok just wanted to make sure.
Here is a couple of pics of the upper spring seat I keep talking about.
If you look at it you will see a metal collar in the middle. The metal collar breaks loose from the rubber and makes a clunking noise when hitting bumps.
The one pic I am lifting the metal collar up.

Auckland,

Sure, no problem. Hope it's the cheaper problem that needs addressing. :)
