I have talked to Michellin and they do not have a replacement for the Pirelli Scorpian STR 215/65/R16/98VM+S tire that is on my 2004 Volvo XC70 as factory equipment. They refused to recommend an "H" rated tire from Michellin that will work.

Any suggestions? I am not displeased with the Pirelli tires, but wonder why I am paying for the "V" rating when I do not need it.

What's the cost difference between H and V.? I may be mistaken but I would think that V are safer in a way than H as they are more stable at high speed in order hold the car on curving roads when tires get hot.

That being said it is also a matter of optimum performance possible on a specific car versus cost...

It's interesting as I'm trying to cost out the opposite of what you are trying to do

What is the minimum speed rating for the tire on your car. Maybe V is the minimun, and thats why they would not reccomend a, H rated tire even though you dont drive that fast.

Just a thought...

If you don't drive that fast, it should be OK, i guess.
