Hi everyone -

Been driving my XC 90 for almost three years now. Aside from problems with the steering and tire wear in the front - and all the water that collects in between the doors and the body during heavy rains and pours out on your feet and onto the carpet in the driver side....I love it.

However - both headlights lenses on the vehicle are crazed (spider web-like cracking) - identically! And, it's getting worse. The crazing also appears on the side of the lens.

My dealer is telling me "it must be from rocks". Oh boy.

Anyone else have experience with this??

Funnily enough - mine are aswell. Car is 2 years old - I haven't actually taken it up with the dealer - but I have a theory.....
With the headlights on all the time - the lens gets pretty damn hot - I wonder if it's hot/cold shock stress from the headlight washers everytime you use the windscreen washers ?

Not sure if warranty would cover it - or how long before they shatter. I've done 45k miles - mostly motorway miles - definitely not 'rock' damage.

Take it to any auto detailer and have them "colorsand" and buff them out. I had mine done and they look almost new again! It is not a big deal at all, took the guy about 20 minutes to do them both....

My XC90 2004 headlights both look as though they're clouding up. Waxing helped minimally. The dealer "has no idea."

Mine is doint the same thing. It has a cloudy spot on the upper portion of the headlight. I was thinking that it was from them being on all the time too but it is only on one side.

who knows.

Update on mine - dealer replaced them under warranty as it was obviously a quality issue with the perspex.
Short of general 'shot blasting' damage from road grime and flies - the lenses should hold up for a good few years in my view - and not be a consumable item every 2 or three years....

Cheers
Ian.

I had the same problem. My dealer replaced both of my lenses under warranty. He told me he had never seen this happen before...
