I have a 2005 S80 T6 with walnut trim. This includes a walnut effect steering wheel in which I have noticed a couple of places where it appears that the clear coat finish, whatever it is, has minute cracks and the underlying "woodgrain" has started to lighten. I can see no way to repair this and would be interested in views. Also what might be involved, both cash ands technically, to replace the steering wheel. The steering wheel has cruise and radio controls with airbag.
It looks like the previous owner had used an anti theft device as the two small marks are at the 10 and 2 o'clock positions.

Regards,

Dave

Less than a year and you're already the second owner?
And a T6?

Hmmm...

I have never actually performed this myself, as mine is not of wooden trim. But could a fresh layer of varnish be able to stop the peeling?

I just bought my 01 S80 and I want to change to a wood steering wheel. I was curious as to what would have to been done and how much it would cost. I actually just purchased a Volvo Wood Steering Wheel off of ebay. It is only the wheel alone so I hope it can be used or I have just wasted my money. Please get in touch with me. If this ends up to be too much cost or effort I will need to re sell this wheel or use it on my golf cart. My email is blakeduo-1@yahoo.com. The leather on the wheel is light gray. What color is your interior?

It Isn't all that hard to replace. Disconnect the battey. The remove the Airbag. It either unscrews or locks in with tabs. Then you can remove the screw and slide the wheel off.

Check out my entry under this forum. I received my oak wheel for my gray car so it will not work. I don't know if it will work on your car but let me know if you have any questions. If you car is under warranty the dealer should take care of it for you. blakeduo-1@yahoo.com
