Hi all, I am looking into changing my tranny fluid when I hit 60,000 miles, and would like to know the basic procedure for draining. I assume the filter is in the pan and that will be changed as well. What is the process for draining all of the fluid? Is there a means for draining the torque converter as well? Also, I want to change the driveshaft support ring since it is getting quite sloppy and there is sometimes a clunk when engaging the gears. Are there any special tools needed and should I replace the carrier bearing too? Thanks.

There is a drain plug in the trans pan. Then you can drop the pan to replace the filter.

Then I would FLUSH the fluid. There is no drain on the converter.Draining will only drain about 3 quarts and the system holds about 12.

I would also replace the carrier bearing but it will have to be pressed off and the new one will have to be pressed on.
