Hi everyone,

Hopefully someone out there can help me. I have a 1990 740 turbo wagon. I replaced the A/C compressor today. The car started fine but while I was charging the system the car died and now it won't restart. I have tried disconnecting the battery, letting some of the pressure out of the a/c system and let it sit for a while to cool back down. I am completely out of ideas.

Thanks

Try looking at your Engine speed sensor.

Also check the fuel pump relay these are common failures. if it is not he relay the fuel pump could have failed. You did not mention wether you had fuel pressure or not.

Experienced it on my 855T5 once.

After a few appointments with a few mechanics, the best of them recommended a replacement of the Impulse / RPM / Acceleration sensor. Symptoms: Car sputters and dies when moving very slowly, like in a bad traffic congestion - Embarassing as ****, when trying to restart. :haha:

I don't know if this helps.
