Hi all - I just pulled up to my driveway and parked the car as I normally do and put my shifter into Park. Only it slid, with no resistance, to P instead of "clicking" from D to N to P. When I actually turned the car off, it was rolling backwards because the Park didnt seem to actually be engaged. I tried it a few times and it feels like the tension is gone. The shifter just slid back and forth really loose - It now won't go into reverse but does drive forward.

For now, I just put on the hand brake and am now in here asking you guys to please advise !! I know I probably need professional help (hahaha) but I was wondering if anyone could at least give me some information/knowledge ?

thanks to everyone !

The rod fell off the transmisson or the bottom of the handle. There is a clip that holds it together. There is also a bushing supposed to be there. The bushings wears out then when it isn't replaced the rod flops around and it may knock the clip off.Look in the driveway you may even find it.
