Ok so my radiator blew on my '88 740 and I just finished putting a new one in, but while I was at it I took out the old intake box as well as the heated air tube and the shim on the exhaust just after the turbo. Now, when I start up, the mixture is very rich and I'm not sure if I should adjust it from the AFM or what. When I took out the box I put on a cone filter for better flow (and looks) and I know it has something to do with the thermostat that controls the air box. Any idea what/where to find this thing and how to adjust it so I'm running better ratios? Thanks!

The thermostat in the air box only brings hot air from the exhaust to help the car heat up faster. It won't make it run richer.

You may have a vaccum leak somewhere else.

I've checked and tighened all the intake hoses myself, from the intake through the turbo past the intercooler to the intake manifold, everythings about as tight as can be. I'm pretty sure it has to do with that intake box because it only happens when it's cold.

Incidentally, would taking off the resonator improve flow for the exhaust? Right now it's stock but I'd like to do what I can to make it a little quicker. Thanks!

It would improve flow some but make it harder to pass emmissions.
