Do all Volvo 240's use ATF fluid in the power steering system, ....and is there any way to tell the difference between ATF and Type F (when they are in the reservoir ).

It is very hard to tell if not impossible.But for the power steering it is no big deal if someone put in type F. If you really aren't sure just flush the system with ATF and go.

Thanks Tech, I think I will give it a flush. I was concerned that the wrong fluid might destroy the seals in the pump or rack.....relieved!
