Can anyone suggest a suitable make and modelof child seat (Group 0+ 1) that properly fits in a rearwards facing position, the new shape V70? I have just tried a BebeConfort Iseos TT and it refuses to fit safely when rearwards facing mode, for really young babies. I'd be pleased to hear from any parents in the UK also and hear what they chose. It's a real minefield! :unsure:

I would suggest the Volvo rearward facing Isofix car seat. We have Isofix in a Golf (Britax - but cannot be used in a V70) and Volvo Isofix in an '03 V70. After using Isofix I would'nt feel safe using anything else. Seat belt fitting is scary after seeing how solid an Isofix is.

The Volvo frame has a removable seat so you can use the frame for a group 0 child or a toddler upto the age of 4.

You will have to get the Isofix attachments fitted and the car seat frame for rearward facing. Our 2.5 yr old is still rearward facing as it is safer for thier neck in a collision.

In the UK, you would be looking at about £250, dealer fit.

Thanks for your comments. I have contacted several local dealers to price up the isofix seat and carrier frame. It's about £300 for the parts and £100 for the fitting labour (VAT inc.) The car will need the isofix brackets fitting but it feels a bit pricey at 1 hours labour. It's alot more expensive overall than a standard infant carrier or childs car seat, but as we are just starting the family it should get plenty of use and I can upgrade the seats to a larger one very easily. I'm sold!

From the diagrams I have seen I'm wondering if I could fit them myself as I'm handy with the spanners? Anyone any experience of self fitting the isofix brackets behind the seats of their Volvo?

We had a similar problem with our V70 - we needed another seat for our youngest. Unfortunately most seats are not recommended for the Volvo due to its headrest in the rear. Not sure of rear-facing solutions but for front facing seats we contacted Britax and they ruled out most of their seats. Volvo make their own range of boosters and attachable add-ons to make a child seat for up to 4 years old-ish but the choice is limited. The problem with the Britax range is that the top of the child seat hits the headrest and as such the seat does not lie flush with the seat. We bought a Romer King (German Britax spin-off) and tried fitting it first. It has a different anchoring system, using clamps on the bottom rather than relying upon fastening the seat at the top lik eearlier models - this appears to have done the trick and it is very sturdy.
