Just picked up a 1987 740 GLE for a steal. Everything seems to working pretty well except the heater blower. So, looks like fuse 16 is a soft spot on these 740s. Here's what a know so far....where should I go from here in order to prevent wasting any $$$$.

When I bought it, heater blower does not turn on, but the heat works. Doesn't seem like A/C works, not sure though. Fuse 16 was blown. I replaced fuse 16. With the new fuse in place, if I put the heat on, the blower doesn't turn on, but the fuse does not blow either. If I switch it over to a/c, the blower also never turns on and the fuse blows.

If I disconnect the wire to the a/c, any chance the heater blower will work? How can I pinpoint where the problem is without replacing anything unnecessarily?

Looking through the old records, it appears the heater blower was replaced about 20,000 miles ago.

Thanks for any help or guidance...

First unplug the compressor and then try.But I Doubt it. Try testing the blower motor with a wire from the battery and see if it works.
