Just new to this site and am hoping I can get some info on my Volvo - 1995 850 GLE 249,000 kilometers and generally running like a top.

Sometimes when I start up the car a puff of blue smoke comes out the exhaust pipe. My dealer checked the compression and said it was ok. He also changed something I think he called an "oil trap". He said it it continues (and it has) it may be valve guides. Any thoughts? Any idea how much that would cost? Thanks in advance for any help.

I would say Valve seals blue means burning oil.

It will cost some because the head will have to ne remove and redone.
