I have a 1998 V70 XC AWD and the back tilt function on the drivers seat doesn't work. The front to back switch works and I replaced the power seat control module so that's not the problem. I suspect it may be the motor if there's a separate motor that just controls the back tilt. If it is the motor, where is it located? and is it difficult/expensive to self repair?

Do you hear it running when you press the switch?

Could be the cable from the motor, which is not that tough to repair. There are plenty of threads about that. I just went through it on mine, only to find that the problem all along was that the plug on the back of the controller beneath the seat had come unplgged.
