I read in the owners manual that blinking light indicate a problem with the climate control. This happens when I start the car. The control that directs the air has no affect on the air.

any suggestions?

I had this same problem with my 1993 850. I got in one day, cranked him up and the lights were blinking for about 20 seconds. Every now and again the ECC (electronic climate control) wouldn't control the airflow, and finally it lost all control. In my case it was the ECC, I took it out and replaced it with one from a salvage yard ($30) and it worked fine. To get the ECC out, first remove you radio, and then push the ECC out from behind. Also IF your fan will not turn off, even when you have killed the engine and removed the key, it is most likely your PowerStage. The transistor most likely went bad. Those are about $180 for an OEM, or you could get one used, but remember the risk of the used ones transistor failing soon as well.

Hope it helps!

I have the same problem with the lights blinking. I pulled the codes and it pulled B1 1-3-1. The driver's side air duct sensor short? I have air blowing good but it's ALL cold. I can't get any HEAT whatsoever. A buddy of mine said the code is the problem. But I just don't know how to fix it. ANY IDEAS OR SUGGESTIONS?

I believe the valves that control the air are motorised so my guess is there is a fault on a motor.

If you car has the Automatic Climate Control, this may help.

B1 -131 IS Duct Temperature sensor driver side; short circuit to ground

Check to see if the rheostat is connected, and maybe replace it.

http://www.tascaparts.com/parts/1993/VOLVO...agramCallOut=14

Check Items: 17, 14 and 12

12 - Opens and closes the FLAP that causes air to recirculate in the cabin.

14 - The is the Temp sensor - If it can't sense the correct temp, the system will dumb out.

17 - This relay may have a effect of the Temp Sensor, but I'm not sure what it does.
