Okay, So, I'm driving down the road, and my Volvo 740 GL starts beeping at me. No warning lights turn on, and im thoroughly confused. It's running fantastic with 250k miles on it. But now, the beep wont stop. I'm guessing its the Beep that comes on when you leave your keys in the ignition and open the door, perhaps one of the door sensors is broken. What's the easiest fix to STOP the beep?

I am not sure if it is the same as the seat belt beeper, but look HERE for the location of the seat belt beeper. Take out the ashtray to access the fuse panel and then remove the cover around the cigarette lighter. Take out the two philips head screws and remove the storage bin. Now you should have clear access to the relay panel. See if one is beeping and remove it.

This is by no means a fix, but I couldn't not say anything and have that annoying the heck out of you. Good luck and let us know if that stops it.

The next step is to see what is causing the beeping in the first place and correct that.

So, I took out the relay, afterward the car wouldnt start. I looked over the fuse box more thuroughly and found that the fuse controling the power antenna was blown. I replaced it, and it blew again, obviously a short circuit. I open all the access panels and inspected for bad wiring to anything on that fuse. I found none. I put another fuse in and watched for smoke from each access panel. and under the hood. I saw none. I realized I had 2 options, Pull out my voltometer, and inspect each circuit untill I found the loss in conectivity, Or I could do what I ended up doing: putting a 30a fuse in. And look for smoke. The 30 didnt blow as the circuit was of low amperage, and the wires began melting. It became apparent the short was in some wiring on the glove box, as blue smoke flooded into the car. I quickly disconected the battery and found the wire: our culprit, The Courtesy Mirror Lamp. The wiring was burnt out all the way from the joint where the shade swivles, to a connector behind the dash. I disconected it, replaced the fuse, and now, everything is great.

:haha: I have heard of that method of 'tracing shorts', but I haven't used it myself :haha: .

I am glad that the you got it to stop chiming and nothing major was needed.
