is it normal 4 a s40 1.8 sedan 2 be slow on acceleration if so is there a chip that i can get 4 it because it is driving me mad

You may be able to find someone to chip it for you, but seriously, a 1.8 will always be a 1.8 that accelerates like a 1.8. I find that Volvo's need at least a low-pressure turbo to give them any kind of go. If you really are not happy with the 1.8, trade it in on a second-hand T or T4 (or a new one, I think they are T5). You'll love it.
