First post of, hopefully, many.

Looking to make the leap into a C70 soon and, having just got into snowboarding, I was wondering if anyone had any experience of fitting roof bars / rack to the C70 coupe?

I've managed to find details of the boot rack that you can get for the convertible and I guess that would work on the coupe too(?), but haven't managed to find any details on the web of bars / a rack that will take to the roof of the coupe.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Not sure this is a make or break with respect to my purchase but it would be good to know before I 'dive in'.

I have a 1998 c70 coupe and I know there is a roof rack available for it, but I do not need or have one. Before I even bought the car I saw it has these screws that come out and are specially made for a roof rack. Looking in the manual, I find I was correct and I also see that it says maximum load on roof rack is about 200 pounds so you can put a snowboard and even a snowboarder on your roof and you're good to go.

I see that this is an old post, but I just purchased a '98 C70 Convertible, and don't need the trunk rack/carrier (OEM Volvo) that comes with it.

Do the first-gen C70's have a pass-through from the trunk into the back seat area?

My 2007 does, and you can also get an accessory "boot" to cover the protruding skis/board, but to be honest I haven't yet tried fitting my snowboard through it. From memory it is not 100% obvious to me if the size of the opening will be tall/wide enough to fit the width of my snow board (I have a wide board for my size 13's). Obviously length is not a problem, since it is made for skis.

In any case, our C70 has summer tires on it, so I'm not likely to be driving it when I head up to Tahoe (I have an SUV for that.)
