I am trying to replace the seat belts in the back on my 89 wagon, and getting to the bolts is really difficult. If the bolts weren't so stuck, I could probably do it, but I think I am going to have to remove the rear seat to get a good enough grip on the bolts. How to I take the rear seat completely out so I can get to the seat belt bolts?
1. Fold down the backseat.
2. There is a "flap" that goes down with the backseat when you fold it down. Lift that flap up and remove all of the bolts (I think there are 6 or 7) on the metal strip.
3. Go to the trunk and fold out the third seat platform. Inside the compartment where the seat was before folding it out, there should be cables that are connected to the left and right sides of the entire platform. You will have to remove the storage compartment covers on both sides of the trunk to get the nuts.
4. Remove the two smaller bolts (next to the cables), and lift the entire platform out.
