Does anyone know how I can mute the radio (HU-603) in my S60 when my phone is in use ? The car kit I have is a CK-7W Nokia Bluetooth Hands Free Car Kit, it has a wire that is used to mute the radio when the phone is in use. How/where do I connect it to the radio ?

Thanks,
Chris.

You'll have to check if the application (Nokia's system) is compatible to the car (Volvo's system), first.

If they are, I would think that the plug point would normally be at the back of the radio casing. You may have to fix the Bluetooth device to the back of the casing (either by the supplied double-sided tape or latch it up onto the slot-if any). By Bluetooth, that is the only thing you may need to do - as the device detects your phone in use, and suppresses all other noises to ensure you reception is good.

I have ONLY seen it done before. (Didn't think it was worth the $$$$ the sales guy wanted, for my old loved one :haha:).

One thing though, you may need to set the Bluetooth setting to not wander too far away. Because at traffic congestions, you may suddenly find your system 'suppressed' if the car next to you, also has the same system, and using the phone.... (I HAVE NO IDEA IF THIS IS TRUE - JUST A GUESS...) :)

Cheerio!

Thanks Ampangbear,

I tried grounding the spare pins on the plug to the radio unit one by one but that didn't work. I was expecting that when I grounded one of them that the radio display would say 'mute' or 'phone' or something but it didn't happen. So, the radio stays on when the phone rings and I don't know any other way to get around this other than to switch the radio off completely by using a relay when a call is received.

Unless anyone knows better........

Thanks
Chris.

No problem, Chris. :)

Hey, one more thing. Do you still have the manual for the radio/stereo or even your Bluetooth device? Look for the page on "Car-Kit" or "Hands-Free" communication section.

See what they have to say about it.

On the other hand, instead of switching your radio off completely, do you even have a "MUTE" button on your radio dash? If there aren't any, then it would be safe to say that your radio system is not compatible for suppressing the audio features. If it does, then you may have to do a little bit more searching.
