Last March I got the control arm bushings done and the endlinks replaced. I know the endlinks are new because I can see them, but the control arm work is worrying me. Now when I brake the car shifts and a loud thump can be heard like something is popping out of place???? If I brake lightly there is no thump or shift, but when I brake from speeds over 25mph the shift and thump are evident. I also checked this when at a complete stop and it appears that the wheels are shifting back towards the body. I suspect that the control arms are the culprit, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Jack the car up and take a look. Did you use OEM parts as replacements or after market brands?

The endlinks are aftermarket silver in color with blue plastic caps behind the rubber, but the control arms are the same as they were old dirty and soiled. Its hard to tell if the bushings were ever done because the discoloration of the undercarriage from a hell of a lot of chemicals on the road from several snow storms this winter.

A little additional info, when the car thumps the steering wheel shakes or turns slightly to the left.

I found out what the problem was!!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/banana.gif) The drivers side axle was bad and the brake caliper was sticking. I still need to change the control arms to error on the side of caution, but the thump is gone and I have a rattle at times from the control arm bushings being shot.
