Hi all,

I've come across a good deal on a set of 17" wheels off a 2004 s60. I've cross-referenced the part number and I believe they should fit. I have a normally-aspirated 2001 v70 with stock 16" wheels. It's due for tires and I really dislike my current wheels.

Does anyone know if I will run into any clearance (or other) issues moving up from 16-17? I understand speedo will probably be a bit off.

Here's a pic of the wheels I'd like to put on:

Thanks,

the speedo won't be off as much as you would think.

The tires on the 17" wheels **should** have a lower sidewall profile than the 16" ones. this will maintain a similar circumference between the two sets.

The only clearance issues I've come across are with tires 18" and larger, and that is probably due more to width than diameter.

Went from 16" on my 2002 S60 to 17". They both had the 43mm offset so fit was no problem. As Doog noted, the profile on the 17" tire should be lower (I went from 205/55/16 to 225/45/17) so speedo should be about the same.

It is nearly always the case that the 17" wheels are wider by 1/2 inch(rim to rim) than the 16" wheels. And people fit wider tires like you did (225 mm up from 205 mm on the 16" wheels). This can lead to rubbing of the tires in the wheel wells when the steering wheel is near lock. You could have put on 205/50-17 tires, if they were available in the style you wanted. To stop the rubbing you might have to put in different steering deflection limiters.
